About Lakestone

Lakestone.ca is a vacation home currently under construction at Lake Cowichan, Vancouver Island, BC. The home is designed around the 5 Elements of Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space (Prana/Ki). The structure will use Stabilized Rammed Earth (SRE) walls, local Cedar, Douglas fir, and stones from the lake and feeder streams (if a supplier is found). It will be roofed with a flat, Japanese-styled garden using living, green technologies.

All design, development, and construction is being undertaken by the fearless, yet dedicated owner.

Lake Cowichan is located 20 minutes (27 kilometers) west of Duncan along Highway 18. The Cowichan Lake region includes the villages of Youbou, Honeymoon Bay, Mesachie Lake, and The Town of Lake Cowichan.

Lake Cowichan is a major recreational hub in the Cowichan valley, a gateway to spectacular hiking, fishing, and camping. The lake is relatively pristine at over 30 km long and 1.5 km wide. With a rainy winter and spring season, the lake completely empties and fills itself six times a year.
